Concocting a Rte. 9 master plan

From the Wellesley Planning Board:

WELLESLEY WEST GATEWAY STUDY FORUM
THURSDAY, JUNE 7, 2007 at 7:30 PM GREAT HALL OF TOWN HALL, 525 WASHINGTON STREET

The Planning Board in conjunction with the Metro West Growth Management Committee and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council will hold the second in the series of public meetings to develop a master plan for the Route 9 corridor in Wellesley west of Weston Road. This study will follow the format of successful studies done for Lower Falls, Cedar Street, Linden Street, Wellesley Hills Square and Wellesley Square.

The study will examine among other things land use, transportation, environmental constraints, housing opportunities, economic vitality, opportunities to increase tax base and conceptual land use goals for the St. James property and the Wellesley Motor Inn.

We have seen in studies of this type that close communication with the residents, commercial property owners, merchants, institutions and government officials is essential. Consequently you are invited to attend this session and participate with us to develop a vision for the area and identify needed improvements.

At this forum we will recap the December 14, 2006 forum, provide an update on Town actions including the approval of the Morse's Pond Management Plan, and discuss the study work plan.

Light refreshments will be served at the outset of the meeting. We will conclude the meeting promptly at 9:30 pm. If you are unable to attend your written input and thoughts are welcome either mailed or emailed to the addresses indicated above. We plan to conduct the last public meeting in September tentatively Thursday, September 20, 2007. We will make a mailing, post the date on the Town's web site www.wellesleyma.gov
